Teacher Training | World Vision

April 2014

Spark a Child’s Digital Future (SPARK) is a program to create a low cost, scalable education technology solution to improve functional literacy and digital literacy in low-resource primary schools in Tanzania and Kenya. It has resulted in a teacher training program, technology platform and delivery mechanism that rapidly spread to 31 schools in Kenya and Tanzania, and it has been cited by local officials as a “Model Program” for technology implementation in education. In this deployment, Team4Tech volunteers from Computer Sciences Corporation, Coursera, Facebook, Intel and Intersol installed 175 Classmate PCs in six schools near the cities of Same and Karatu. The team also provided teacher training on basic digital literacy and educational software to 40 teachers who are responsible for teaching over 2,100 students.
