Tutor Training | LEAP Science and Maths Schools & Teach With Africa
LEAP Science and Maths Schools is a nonprofit organization that provides free education to students from high-need communities in South Africa. LEAP’s unique educational model requires mathematics, science and English, and it offers extended school hours and after-school tutoring. As a result, their Grade 12 students have a 93% pass rate with more than 70% of graduates pursuing tertiary education. As part of their model, LEAP has established Learning Centers to work with primary-school students who will join the pipeline for their high schools. Team4Tech volunteers from Box and Intel trained the Learning Center’s tutors in digital literacy, 21st century education and educational software. They transformed an empty shipping container into a fully functional computer lab with 25 laptops and supporting hardware and software.
