Orphans Overseas | Karibu Centre

May 2013

The Karibu Centre is a place of hope, refuge and learning for children from the slum communities surrounding Thika. More than 350 preschool children and 2,000 primary students benefit from the center’s educational programs, which aim to eliminate the achievement gap for young learners. The centre provides an IT training academy for primary school teachers from nearby schools as well. Team4Tech volunteers from Intel and VMware provided master teacher training on digital literacy and early literacy and numeracy software. The team set up Classmate PC labs in two elementary schools supported by Orphans Overseas.
