Menlo Park, CA, February 19, 2014 – The CLASSY Awards, the largest social impact awards event in the US, has chosen Team4Tech as a finalist in the category of Educational Quality and Completion. The Top 5 Nominees for the 5th Annual CLASSY Awards are selected from thousands of remarkable organizations worldwide, driving instrumental change across 25 cause categories. Organizations are evaluated through the CLASSY Awards process and are pioneers with innovative models and solutions to pressing social challenges.
As described on the CLASSY Awards website, Quality of Education programs are “primarily focused on keeping students in school and ensuring a high quality of education. These programs address, among others, problems pertaining to the achievement gap, high dropout rates, lack of individual education plans, low test scores, poor college readiness, a shortage of qualified teachers and uneven access to information and communication technologies.”
The CLASSY Awards recognized the Team4Tech innovative model of matching skilled volunteers with sustainable nonprofit education projects. “Acting as the middle man, they match talented professionals from high-tech companies with nonprofit projects to rapidly implement customized education technology solutions, resulting in better educational outcomes, better employees, and better technology.”
The award also profiled a specific project – the Team4Tech Kenya collaboration with Orphans Overseas. This project demonstrated rigorous impact data on English literacy test scores for first and second graders in the first school. At the schools where the Waterford Early Learning software was implemented, test scores improved by over 100% on average in the first four months of usage in late 2013.
Team4Tech joins other high impact Top 5 CLASSY nominees UClass, Blue Engine, Achieving the Dream, and Diplomas Now. Winners will be announces and finalists will be recognized at the Fifth Annual CLASSY Awards Ceremony on May 2-3 in San Diego.
